Phil joins us from Perth, Australia. He started rowing at the age of 12, where he began his rowing career in sculls, second year he stroked the quad and in his third year stoked an Junior VIII. At age 15 he became a senior rower at his school, and went between 2 and stroke seat for two years, spending the last 1.5 years in the first VIII. Phil also broke the school boy record at the time with a 2km time of 5:52. Phil continued on to row 2 seat for his school boys states and after high school, he went into surf boats for his surf club North Cottesloe. In 2012 and 2013 he competed in the Australian Championships on the Gold Coast near Brisbane. Phil has been coaching since 2010 and received his coaching certificate with at Scotch College. Phil joins us at Dal from The University of Western Australia, he is in his third year of undergrad, majoring in Geology.
